Gameplay

Re:Monster: Goblin Reincarnation is a strategy game. Players, along with a party of up to five, will defend a 3×3 board area from monster’s attack while trying to defeat all the monsters. Players can only move with these tiles while the enemies approach you all different directions. Its defeat if the player unit is defeated or the time runs out.

Units

There are three categories that the units are placed into. Though separate, all units essentially function the same in regards to leveling and evolving.

  • Demi-Humans

This category includes any sentient, subspecies, and various unit evolutions of demi-human. This category includines, goblins, elves, orcs, kobolds, and more.

  • Humans

This category is specific to humans, as we are speciest and better than everything else.

  • Beasts

This group includes all non-sentient units, including the horned rabbits, armored tanukis and their evolutions. An example is the horned rabbit, the most common unit, which can be found in the beginning levels, in both the first and second hunt.

Rank

Units have various ranks that go from N to LE+ and for the most part determine the strength of the unit. The rank of the unit cannot increase.

Evolution

Often preceding the name of the unit are a set of symbols: -, ◇, and ◆. These symbols determine whether the unit has the ability to evolve and how many times it can evolve.

Symbol Meaning
[-] The unit cannot evolve.
[◇] Means that the unit can evolve and that it has not been achieved.
[◆] Means that the unit had the ability to and has evolved.

The latter two can also appear has a combination. They work as a system to determine where in the evolution chain the unit is. For example,[◆]means that the unit has two evolutions, that the first was achieved, and the second has yet to be completed.

[-] [◇] [◇◇] [◇◇◇] [◇◇◇◇]
[◆] [◆◇] [◆◇◇] [◆◇◇◇]
[◆◆] [◆◆◇] [◆◆◇◇]
[◆◆◆] [◆◆◆◇]
[◆◆◆◆]

The requirements for evolution vary depending on the unit though the first requirement is always to max the level of the unit. After this the unit may be able to evolve, if not there may be up to two additional requirements. These requirements can range from particaption in hunts to consuming of materials and other units.

Level

If the unit is not able to evolve than the max level for the unit is 50. If the unit can evolve the max is 100. For each subsequent evolution, the unit's level reduces to 1 and suffers a small decrease in stats. For a[◇]unit, it has a max level of 100 initially, when it evolves the unit's level will drop to 1 and the max level will then be 50.

A unit's level can be increased by consuming units of the same rank and kind. Each consumption increases the max level by 25. For example, a SR[◆]Minokichi can be fed a SR[◆]Minokichi in order to increase the max level.  The level can only be increased up to 100.

Characters

Protagonist

The protagonist takes a role similar to Rou and progresses through a story that parallels his. The player takes control of the protagonist unit of the game. The protagonist unit does not attack or recover on its own. The player place attacks, spells, support moves, and passive abilities throughout the field in the units stead.

The protagonist unit can also evolve once the requirements are met. As the unit evolves, the stats increase. The evolutions are mostly for preference as evolutions do not give new abilities or drastically change most stats though each higher evolution the protagonist gains, he becomes more robust. Once you unlock an evolution, you can freely transform into it for some gold and food.
