Day 362
Early in the morning, after spending the night in a luxury hotel named after the forest base Kikoku -it would be easy to recognize our base - we returned after a morning of training. After I had eaten I went to the «Workshop» where the Blacksmith-san's worked.
In the «Workshop» the craftsmen swung their hammers while streaming sweat, with the constant sound of them breathing life into metal resounding while scattering sparks.
The most important work of these members is maintaining our weapons and armor on a daily basis, and today my main job is to help the Blacksmith-san.
Like before, in the same way as not having the culinary skills to help the sisters, I could not directly lend a hand to the Blacksmith-san working at the smith's.
From Blacksmith-san's level of expertise, it would be like barely putting my foot a hair's length in, like an amateur.
As for what I can do, so far I have taken in about dozens, if not hundreds, of the magic metals that were mined and taken from each dungeon into my silver arms, making armor utensils for use in the «workshop» like the artisans desired of the alloy to be produced with the ingots.
Originally, it was necessary to prepare the magic metal alloy according to certain guidelines.
Although, with research, it is still possible to somehow work with a small amount, but it becomes quite difficult when it comes to making alloys in large quantities.
In my case though, I can take in a wide variety of magic metals in my silver arms only changing them into ingots while shifting the respective ratio needed.

Getting a more accurate example would be tough, but this is close enough as a rough image.
Either way, this is too easy to do, but more than half of our visitors came to tour all of the work, it still would not have been meaningful like this.
I tried various mixtures while changing the ratio in a short period of time, led by the master dwarf that wields a huge hammer, they carefully craft various armors as our Blacksmith-san are serious enough you could not imagine a smiling expression as they continue forging.
Each dwarf enters a dedicated workshop, while flames are incessantly leaking from the furnaces that are using spirit stones.
High-pitched sounds come from the hammers hitting the magic alloys, violently flying sparks scattering incessantly.
Slowly and gradually, the work which has the soul of the craftsmen will be built.
There was certainly the mark of craftsmanship there.
So far their technology has been cultivated by practice, inherited and passed down first by tradition, it is the final result learned after countless trial and errors.
The characteristics of the magic metal that is used as a raw material, probably due to the【Job】 of 【Blacksmith】, can make an armor with magic, and afterwards it becomes sublimated into a magic item that surpasses any regular armor.
A Long Sword with improved sharpness and an added heat strike, a tower shield to prevent the wearer from attacks even by the wind, a sling staff that would generate gravel shots automatically, even such a mace that would strike again at the same time lightning as the initial strike, the items being worked on have a wide range.
The sight of a real blacksmith is simply fun to watch, and I was inspired by it, I also decided to try to build various things.
Of course, because Oniwaka is the child of Blacksmith-san he was there in the workshop with his mother in a corner, wielding a hammer alongside Oniwaka.
Material to be used is stacked in the corner, it is suitably the magic alloy extracted from my silver arms.
Since the magic alloy has a larger amount of mithril blended in it is slightly bluish.
With a whistling like a kettle and while being advised by the Blacksmith-san, Oniwaka struck with the hammer for a while.
What was finished by trial and error by Oniwaka was a thick knife, almost like a hatchet.
I just polished a horn in a corner, and fitted them with a magic alloy handle, but the material's sharpness to the material was outstanding.
Even dropping a rock is cut by its own weight, there is also 【Automatic Repair】 along with other various skills. It might be exactly good for disassembling knives when dismantling prey or for subordinate armor with good usability.
The one that was first completed and presented was to Oniwaka, and we planned to make more together for the rest of the children - Auro, Argento, Nicola, and Opushii, we decided to continue blacksmithing again.
I knew the way was already possible, so we would continue to the working as father and son.
Anyway since Nicola still can not be use it because she is the baby, the other kids are also pleased, so it ended up being good after all.
Because of this experience, I want to continue building things.

“三百六十二日目”
早朝、高級ホテルで一泊してから大森林の拠点――【始まりの鬼哭森殿】と名付けたが、拠点の方が分かりやすいだろう――に帰還し、朝の訓練を行った後、飯を喰ってから鍛冶師さん達が居る≪工房≫に出向いた。
≪工房≫では職人達が汗水垂らしながら鎚を振り下ろし、火花を散らしながら金属に命を吹き込む音が絶えず聞こえる。
団員達の武具の製造、あるいは整備という重要な仕事が日々行われているここで、鍛冶師さん達の手伝いをするのが今日の俺の主な仕事になる。
といっても、姉妹さん達の料理に加われないのと同じように、鍛冶師さんの鍛冶に直接手を出せる訳ではない。
今の鍛冶師さんのレベルからすると、素人に毛が生えた程度の俺では足を引っ張る事になる。
俺がするのは、これまで各ダンジョンから採掘・採取した数十から百数十種類ほどの魔法金属を銀腕に取り込み、武具などを始めとする数々の道具類を造ってくれる≪工房≫の職人達の要望通りの合金をインゴットにして生産する事だった。
本来、魔法金属を合金にするのは相応の準備が必要になる。
少量で研究するならまだ何とかなるが、大量に合金を造るとなるとかなり難しい。
しかし俺の場合は銀腕で多種多様な魔法金属を一旦取り込み、それぞれの比率を変えながらインゴットに変えてやるだけである。
分かりやすく例えれば、粘土を捏ねて何個も塊を造る感覚に近いだろうか。
精度は例えよりも遥かに精確だが、大雑把なイメージとしてはこれが近い。
だからやる事が簡単過ぎて、半分以上は皆の作業を見学する視察のようになったが、それでもこれはこれで有意義ではなかろうか。
俺が短時間で比率を変えながら色々造ってみた合金を、巨大な鎚を担いだ親方ドワーフを筆頭に、普段では想像できない程真剣な表情の鍛冶師さん達が丹念に丹念に様々な武具を鍛造していく。
それぞれ専用の作業場に籠り、精霊石を使った炉からは絶え間なく炎が漏れ出している。
鎚が魔法合金を叩く甲高い音、激しく飛び散る火花は絶え間なく。
徐々に徐々に、職人達の魂が込めた作品が造られていく。
そこには確かに職人技があった。
これまで実践にて培われてきた技術が、受け継がれてきた伝統が、数多の試行錯誤の末に見出された成果が出来上がっていくのには感動すら覚える。
素材として使用される魔法金属の特性や、あるいは【鍛冶師】という【職業】によって、造られる武具には魔力が宿り、ただの武具より優れたマジックアイテムへと昇華されていく。
高熱を宿して切れ味を向上させたロングソード、風を纏い攻撃を防ぐタワーシールド、自動的に石礫を生成してしまうスタッフスリング、衝突すると同時に雷撃を叩きこむメイスなど、造られていく作品は幅広い。
真剣に鍛冶をしている光景は見ていて単純に面白く、それに感化されてか、俺も色々と造ってみる事にした。
丁度、鍛冶師さんとの子供でもある鬼若が隅の方にある作業場に居たので、鬼若と一緒に鎚を振るう。
使用する材料は俺の角を一本と、適当に銀腕から抽出した魔法合金だ。
魔法合金はミスラルを多めに配合しているので、やや青みがかっている。
そして、何やかんやと鍛冶師さんに助言されながら鎚を振ったりする事しばらく。
鬼若と一緒に試行錯誤しながら出来上がったのは、鉈のような肉厚のナイフだった。
俺の角を研磨し、魔法合金製の柄を取り付けただけだが、素材が素材だけに切れ味は抜群だ。
自重だけで岩が切れるし、【自動修復】とか色々な能力もあったりする。獲物を解体する時の解体ナイフとか、使い勝手の良い副武装などに丁度いいのではないだろうか。
最初に出来上がった一本は一緒に作った鬼若にプレゼントして、残りの子供――オーロやアルジェント、ニコラやオプシーの為に、再び鍛冶を続ける事にした。
やり方は既に出来たので、後はパパパッと終わらせる。
まだ赤子なので使えないニコラはともかく、他の三鬼も喜んでくれたようなので、良しとしておこう。
今度もまた、何か造りたいモノだ。
